NIHF highlights support services for hotels sector

Janice Gault, chief executive, NI Hotels Federation.

By Janice Gault, chief executive, Northern Ireland Hotels Federation

The Federation is continuing to operate at this difficult time. Following Government advice, we will work from home as much as possible and will be available by phone or email to help members with queries and questions and also to communicate any information.

Our hotel, guesthouse and guest accommodation members are following government advice and those who are not closed will now shut for leisure and commercial purposes. Some will continue to trade providing accommodation and services for essential workers and permanent residents.

As suppliers to the industry we know that this will have a significant impact on your businesses and we would like to thank many of you who have reached out to us and the wider industry. We value the partnership we have with you and hope that we will be able to work collaboratively in the future.

We realise that everyone’s primary concern is for their staff and we have been working closely with members on this. The Chancellor has offered a range of measures covering benefits, assistance with wages and the availability of grants and loans to help with liquidity. Businesses are availing of these with a view to being in a position to re-open once the current threat has subsided and the health of employees and customers is no longer at risk. We hope that these measures will also be of benefit to you.

The NIHF will monitor the current situation and advise on developments as the announcements are made. We will be sharing this via a number of platforms:

WEBSITE – The NIHF website will have details on our Coronavirus Updates page –
FACEBOOK – Our Facebook page –
EZINE – We will also send out an update via e-zine which you can sign up for here:

The NIHF plans to update members on a daily basis if there are any developments. In the main this will be done through our website and the platforms above. If you haven’t done so already, please sign up to our ezine and in the meantime you can contact us with any questions you may have by phone on our regular number – 028 9077 6635 as well as via email.

We realise that this is an unprecedented situation and if we can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
