Hilton Belfast is putting the finishing touches on a £10m transformation project, which includes a full refurbishment of the hotel’s facilities and an expansion of its capacity to 202 bedrooms and suites.
“This significant investment demonstrates not only Hilton’s commitment to constantly innovating and improving the visitor experience, and – importantly – our confidence in Belfast, an increasingly popular visitor destination for city breaks and conferences,” said Mark Walker, general manager of Hilton Belfast. “With state-of-the-art facilities and high-end finishes, this refurbishment reflects the high standards consumers expect from the Hilton brand, and will maintain our competitive edge as we continue to welcome visitors from all over the world to Belfast.”
The new facilities have been unveiled ahead of the HelmsBriscoe’s European, Middle Eastern and Africa (EMEA) Regional Meeting, which is sponsored by and will take place in Hilton Belfast this week (8th to 10th March 2020.).
Gerry Lennon, chief executive of Visit Belfast, said: “Belfast’s tourism industry and in particular our hoteliers, have been central to the city’s renaissance and regeneration of recent years so we welcome this latest investment in our world-class hotel portfolio.
“When the Hilton Belfast opened in 1998 it was one of the first international brands to invest in Belfast. That investment acted as a catalyst for wider tourism investment and since then, 24 new hotels and numerous refurbishments have amounted to multi-millions of pounds of private sector investment. Belfast’s hotels now provide close to 5,000 rooms; and last year, nearly 1.4 million bed nights were sold generating over £108m in room revenue for the city economy.
“Investment encourages investment and the refurbishment and renovation of the Hilton Belfast continues to set the highest of standards that will support wider accommodation sector in welcoming more and more visitors to Belfast.”
Simon Hamilton, chief executive of Belfast Chamber, said: “I welcome this latest investment in our city’s hotel portfolio. Despite the uncertainty of recent years, the business community in Belfast has remained resilient and committed to investing in and growing the city’s economy, so I congratulate Hilton for demonstrating that commitment by delivering first-class facilities for the thousands of visitors that stay there each year through this important investment.”
Hilton Belfast continues to be the only hotel in the city that offers all of its event space entirely on the one floor, while Sonoma Bar & Grill and No. 4 are also available exclusively for private hire.
The new features join a long list of advanced facilities already available at the hotel, including high-speed data lines and state-of-the-art sound light technology. Meeting rooms now feature 75inch Samsung TVs and barco clickshare technology, meaning meetings are cable free. The opulent chandeliers in the large ballroom make it one of the most stylist venues in the city to host a dinner/event.
The stunning new reception area now creates an impressive welcome to the hotel with a spectacular light feature overhead, individual check in desks and grand staircase, leading to the spectacular Lagan Suite and foyer.
A new bar has arrived in town with the introduction of No 4 on the ground floor serving food and drinks until 11pm, whist Sonoma Bar & Grill continues to offer a high standard of food led by Executive Chef Chris Mawhinney. Sonoma has taken its inspiration from Northern Ireland, with tile work reflecting the Giants Causeway, while the intricate design on the walls and ceiling are a recreation of the dining space on-board Titanic. This is fitting with the hotel overlooking the River Lagan and the famous Harland and Wolff cranes.
The hotel’s executive lounge and business centre on the ground floor, allows executive guests complimentary access to private meeting space and complimentary food and drinks. The gym boasts the latest in fitness technology and is open 24 hours a day.
The renovation has also seen the introduction of increased bedroom capacity to 202 bedrooms and suites, where guests can enjoy panoramic views of the city as well as beneficial in room features including, USB points, in room fridges and bath and walk in shower options. The larger executive rooms and corner suites continue to offer the best views of the city and the lagan which all come with complimentary access to the executive lounge.
