Northern Ireland’s biggest family-friendly event, the Dalriada Festival, returns over July 13-14 with highlights set to include headline acts Peter Andre and Fleur East alongside the Celtic Smoke International BBQ competition.
Powered by Purple Bricks, supported by Mid & East Antrim Borough Council and in association with Tower Centre, the event is held within the grounds of historic Glenarm Castle, which also hosted a launch event on June 11.
Live music entertainment is set to span nostalgic 1990s to present day acts, including Peter Andre playing an exclusive Northern Ireland date, Fleur East, Samantha Harvey, Atomic Kitten, D:Ream, East 17, Republica and Phats & Small, as well as local singers and bands.
Kids’ activities, meanwhile, will include Paw Patrol with TV stars Chase & Marshall, Sam & Mark from CBBC’s Big Friday Wind Up and the little green Tractor Ted with a real-life farm courtesy of the Official Tractor Ted team.
Marking the first time the renowned Kansas City BBQ Society has sanctioned an official competition event in Europe, the festival will host the Celtic Smoke International BBQ Competition, alongside an array of local producers and vendors including the street food market, chef demonstrations, pop-up restaurant and a family dining area.
Families can stay for the weekend, with camping, caravan or campervan pitches available, including a five-star glamping option.
The Dalriada Festival has been held in the grounds of Glenarm Estate since 2011. Festival goers will have access to the Castle, home to the current Lord and Lady Dunluce and their family, for scheduled tours, and to the Castle tearooms and walled garden.
“We are delighted to be back with the Dalriada Festival 2019,” said Nigel Campbell, festival director. “Every year we aim to create a festival with families in mind. The beautiful Glenarm Estate and castle is a fantastic backdrop for our amazing festival programme.”
