Henderson Foodservice brewing success with Hastings Hotels

Sir Howard Hastings, MD of the Hastings Hotel Group and Kiera Campbell, Director of Sales at Henderson Foodservice enjoy a cup of the Grand Cru range in the luxurious surrounds of the Grand Central Hotel’s Observatory lounge. The Observatory is the only place in Northern Ireland to serve the Grand Cru coffee range which is supplied exclusively by Henderson Foodservice.

Henderson Foodservice has been appointed by Hastings Hotel group as the sole supplier of a unique coffee solution across the full estate of Hastings hotels and restaurants.

After a lengthy search to find a distinctive coffee bean that could be used throughout the suite of hotels and restaurants, Hastings approached Henderson Foodservice to help find their signature coffee serve.

Named the ‘Hastings Triple Cert Bean’, the coffee has been officially certified by the Soil Association, the Rainforest Association and Fair Trade, confirming that it has been sourced ethically and reliably before travelling to Northern Ireland where it is roasted locally.

In order to give the premium taste customers at Hastings Hotels have come to expect, Henderson Foodservice will also be supplying the hotel group with top of the range machinery, ensuring the coffee is brewed to the highest standard. The Nuovo Simonelli machine will be available in the seven Hastings Hotels including the Percy French in the grounds of the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa and the Cultra Inn in the grounds of the Culloden Estate & Spa.

Howard Hastings, Managing Director of Hastings Hotels said he was pleased to be working in close partnership with Henderson Foodservice.

“We have always enjoyed a close working relationship with Henderson Foodservice so when we decided to introduce our own blend of signature coffees, we knew they would be able to help us find the perfect solution.

“Henderson Foodservice understands our need to promote local produce and how important the idea of provenance is for us as a group. While we can’t grow coffee in Northern Ireland, we insisted the beans were roasted here, which they are, in Lisburn and brewed using our new top of the range equipment, which Henderson Foodservice also supplied.

“We are confident that we can now offer our customers an exceptional range of coffees throughout our seven hotels and hope they enjoy the exclusive blend of tastes and flavours.”

Part of the brief for Henderson Foodservice was to find a premium bean to be served in the Observatory of the group’s latest hotel, The Grand Central. Known for its stunning views of the city and exclusive clientele, Hastings wanted an extra special coffee to match the luxurious surroundings.

Henderson Foodservice decided on UCC’s Grand Cru range for the Observatory, which is created using a combination of the world’s finest Arabica, expert knowledge and craftmanship. The Observatory is set to be the only location in Northern Ireland serving this premium blend.

Sales Director at Henderson Foodservice, Kiera Campbell, explained that the challenge of finding a premium product was an enjoyable one.

“At Henderson Foodservice, we take great joy in working closely with our customers and to find the perfect products for their needs. When it came to selecting the coffee for a unique venue such the Observatory, it was clear we had to deliver an exceptionally high quality product and we’re pleased that this will be the only venue in Northern Ireland where the Grand Cru range will be served.

“It has been a fantastic experience to extend our longstanding partnership with Hastings Hotels and we look forward to continuing to work together on more exciting projects in the future.”

The Hastings Triple Cert coffee is now available to try at all of Hastings Hotels and restaurants and an exclusive launch evening for the Grand Cru range at the Observatory will be held in the Spring.
