Accommodation, Student Plus

Student Plus is comprised of six individual business units including Queen’s Accommodation. The student experience is at the heart of our business, providing solutions to student needs, based on their lifestyles, and helping them contribute, grow and develop academically, all within a welcoming and inclusive community responsibilities.

Queen’s Accommodation currently houses over 2,300 students and staff in the Elms Village, Malone Road and Queen’s Houses and apartments close to the main campus. Queen’s University Belfast is opening two new City Centre Student Accommodation developments in September 2018 that will become home to over 1,200 new students studying at the University for 2018-19.

This is an exciting new chapter for the University and will enable us to provide high quality, secure safe and affordable accommodation to over 3,400 Queen’s students. Queen’s is delighted to be able to bring new job opportunities to the local market as part of this investment and ensure that we continue to attract the brightest students to study at Queen’s and live in Belfast.

Our staff are key to the success of the service we provide our students and we are, therefore, looking to recruit individuals who will dedicate themselves to the student experience and provide a welcoming, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly service.

The successful candidate will join our team to provide daily support services to ensure the smooth and efficient running of Queen’s Accommodation which include cleaning, janitorial and portering services. They will provide a courteous and professional service to internal and external customers at all times and promote customer service excellence within the team in all communications and contact with University staff, students and customers.

Applicants should possess a positive “can-do” attitude, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for providing excellent customer care.

The post holder will be required to work 37 hours per week Wednesday to Sunday.

You will be located in one of three accommodation sites, Elms BT1, (College Avenue), Elms BT2 (McClintock Street) or Elms BT9 (Elms Village), however there will be a requirement to be flexible across the sites to meet the needs of the business.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Secondary school education
  • Minimum of 6 months relevant portering and janitorial and cleaning experience in a customer facing environment
  • Evidence of good numeracy and literacy skills

Anticipated interview date: Friday 11 May 2018
Salary scale: £15,721 – £16,654 per annum (potential to progress to £17,326 per annum pro rata through sustained exceptional contribution)
