Queen’s Accommodation currently houses over 2,300 students and staff in the Elms Village, Malone Road and Queen’s Houses and apartments close to the main campus. Queen’s University Belfast is opening two new City Centre Student Accommodation developments in September 2018 that will become home to over 1,200 new students studying at the University for 2018-19.

This is an exciting new chapter for the University and will enable us to provide high quality, secure safe and affordable accommodation to over 3,400 Queen’s students. Queen’s is delighted to be able to bring new job opportunities to the local market as part of this investment and ensure that we continue to attract the brightest students to study at Queen’s and live in Belfast.

Our staff are key to the success of the service we provide our students and we are, therefore, looking to recruit an individual who will dedicate themselves to the student experience and provide a welcoming, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly service.

The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Accommodation Manager and will be  responsible for allocating students into accommodation and maximise all opportunities to maintain occupancy levels during the academic year, they will manage out of term residential conferences, summer schools and bed and breakfast business, converting enquiries to confirmed business.

The post holder will also be required to provide excellent standards of service and to actively promote accommodation to attract new students/business for all accommodation sites

It is essential that the successful candidate is a customer focused individual with an outgoing personality and positive attitude and can deliver a high level of professionalism as you represent our business in this key area. Applicants should possess a positive “can-do” attitude, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for providing excellent customer care.

The successful candidate must have the ability and willingness to work, on occasion, flexible hours to meet the needs of the business (i.e. outside 9am – 5pm including, weekends (for example University/Faculty open days and check-in weekends).

The successful candidate must have:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) to include English Language and Mathematics or NVQ Level 2 Administration.
  • A minimum of three years relevant experience working directly with customers in an accommodation/tourism environment, including:
  • –  Bookings and revenue management
    –  Producing and analysing complex reports
    –  Experience of working with a financial system to produce purchase orders and invoices
    –  Experience of IT systems including bookings/room allocating system, MS Word, Excel, Outlook the web and social media.
  • Experience of and confidence in dealing with customer complaints and escalating exceptional cases.

Anticipated interview date: Thursday 10 May 2018
Salary scale:   £20,411 – £22,876 per annum (potential to progress to £24,285 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
