There was an avalanche of interest in this week’s launch of Après by Heverlee at Baltic, Belfast’s first ski–themed bar.
Guests were treated to a taste of what’s to come when the new Après-ski themed experience from Heverlee, Ireland’s best-selling Belgian beer, officially opened on Saturday 18th November.
Baltic at Bullitt Hotel provided the perfectly chilled backdrop for a heady combination of themed food, live music and, exclusive to Baltic, the chance for local beer lovers to sample two new Heverlee brews alongside original Heverlee Premium Belgian Lager. Baltic’s ski-inspired décor has been dialled up a notch with extra warm winter lighting and cosy soft furnishings.
Attendees quenched Après work, Après shopping thirsts on Heverlee Blonde a well-balanced aromatic Abbey beer. Heverlee IPA an exceptionally aromatic and smooth beer which is easy to drink.
As well as the original and much-loved Heverlee Premium Belgian Lager (4.8%) is an original, rediscovered. Returning to his birthplace of Leuven, Heverlee’s own Master Brewer embarked on a mission to rediscover and recreate this classic bygone taste. Exploring the Abbey library, he learnt of a light, fresh tasting beer and he used the descriptions of that instant beer to create today’s Heverlee, the smooth pint that uses barley, specially selected hops and a much slower, more traditional brewing process than some bigger brands to restore original Pils bitterness to its taste.
Going off piste is something which comes very naturally to Heverlee and its carefully selected partners, as Victoria Brown at C&C Group, explains. She says, “We’re all about being different, distinctive and relevant to our consumers. We were totally inspired by the après ski décor and ambience at Baltic. It’s the perfect setting for us to launch Après by Heverlee, combining indulgent winter food, live music and exceptional beers. When it’s Baltic outside this winter, Baltic will be the place to slope off to, for an après experience like no other.”
