Clayton Belfast toasts to success with Barton & Guestier

On Thursday 29th September, Clayton Hotel Belfast in association with Woodford Bourne hosted a gourmet wine evening in the Olympic Suite.

Woodford Bourne invited Solange Galan from Barton & Guestier to host the event. Solange travelled in from France as she is the Head of food & wine academy at Chateau Magnol with many years’ experience and was the ideal person to host this wonderful unique event.

The gourmet wine event kicked off in the Olympic Bar at 7.30 with a drinks reception. Guests mingled while enjoying a glass of a Barton & Guestier Sauvignon Blanc and a shot of Amuse bouche.

Guests were called into the Olympic Suite at 8pm by Gary McCrudden, Head of Food & Beverage. After taking their seats, a welcome speech was made by Stephen Redden General Manager of Clayton Hotel Belfast.

Stephen welcomed all the guests to the hotel and introduced Solange Galan.

Solange talked through the history of Barton & Guestier, giving an in-depth explanation of the wine the guests were testing and the reason why it was paired with each course.

Head Chef, William Johnston who only started with Clayton Hotel Belfast in April of this year, assembled an impressive 7 course Gourmet dinner which was paired with different wines from the Barton & Guestier and Woodford Bourne collection.

During the evening guests enjoyed sampling the Barton & Guestier Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Thomas Barton Medoc 2012 and Chateau Magnol Haut Medoc 2013. For those who had a sweet tooth, dessert wines of Miguel Torres Nectaria Botrytis Riesling 2010 and Duc de Castellac 2014 were served.

It was a very successful event, in aid of Cancer Focus the nominated charity of Clayton Hotel Belfast. A raffle was held, prizes included Victoria Square vouchers and overnight accommodation in Clayton & Maldron Hotels in Northern Ireland. The raffle raised a total of £545.
