All three of the McKeever Hotel Group’s Northern Ireland hotels have achieved Investors In People Silver awards. Celebrating their success are Dunsilly Hotel General Manager Martin Boon, Adair Arms General Manager Stella Grant and Corr’s Corner General Manager Martin Toner.

All three Northern Ireland hotels in the McKeever Hotel Group, which employs more than 200 people, have been awarded the coveted Investors in People Silver Award.

Corr’s Corner in Newtownabbey, The Dunsilly Hotel in Antrim and the Adair Arms in Ballymena have all received the accreditation which is a management standard for high performance through people. The prestigious accreditation is recognised across the world as a mark of excellence.

“As a family run hotel group, taking pride in our people is part of our ethos. We believe it’s really important to give the people who work here the chance to develop their careers so we offer them training and the opportunity to advance in the company. This has been the backbone of the company as staff feel that they belong with us and have a great loyalty which shines through in our customer service,” Eugene McKeever, Managing Director of McKeever Hotel Group, said.

In an industry where employees move jobs frequently or work temporarily, the company has an incredibly high staff retention rate with many staff working for the company for many years.

Martin Toner, the general manager at Corr’s Corner, has worked for the McKeevers for 27 years.

“We have a great training programme and staff know that they can start anywhere in the company and through hard work and a great attitude they can work their way up and we will support them. I think that’s hugely important to people,” Martin said.

IIP recognises when a company takes staff development very seriously and has a pipeline of talent working their way up so that the organisation is sustainable in the future.

Martin Boon, general manager of the Dunsilly Hotel, said that the company has also supported a number of employees to go on to do university degrees in hospitality and management, which have been a great asset to the company.

“I joined the company when the hotel opened ten years ago and it’s great to see how we’ve built a team and created a great working atmosphere,” he added.

And Stella Grant, the general manager at the Adair Arms for the past five years, added: “Each of the hotels strives to be a big part of the community. We employ local people and serve the local community.  Our people are our best asset and we want them to know how important they are to us.”
