Heineken® Star Serve Champion Anthony Hughes from The Devenish in action.

Over 200 bar staff from pubs throughout Northern Ireland battled it out at The HEINEKEN Quality Awards at The MAC Belfast – hosted by Cool FM DJ Pete SnoddenAnthony Hughes from The Devenish Belfast was crowned Northern Ireland’s Star Serve Champion – beating off competition from some of the most talented bar staff in the industry.

The Heineken® Quality Awards, now in their third year, are designed to establish the brand in this market and celebrate quality in Northern Ireland.  The awards champion the HEINEKEN Star Serve programme, promoting the five key steps on pouring the perfect pint.  As the world’s number one premium Lager brand, HEINEKEN leads the way in promoting draught category growth through a commitment to quality, training and excellent service.

Every Heineken® draught Star Serve pub has access to Star Serve training and the Pub Quality Audit – ensuring the customers receive a perfect pint every time.  This year’s winners included The Hudson (Belfast) for Best First Impressions, The Albany (Belfast) for Best Staff and Service, Jazzeys (Enniskillen) for Best in Pub, The Auction Rooms (Moy) for Most Improved Bar and McAleers Bar (Dungannon) for Best overall Bar.

Local legends from Ulster Rugby also made a guest appearance – including Nick Williams, Rory Scholes and Andrew Trimble, who were given a Star Serve masterclass and the opportunity to try and pull the perfect pint of Heineken®.
