Irish TV to broadcast live from Armagh this St Patrick’s Day
Irish TV, Ireland’s first ever international channel, has launched St Patrick’s Day Live. For the first time in her history Ireland’s Ecclesiastical capital Armagh will see its celebrations beamed across the globe on Irish TV Sky 191, Freesat 400, on eircom’s eVision 191, on free to air boxes and online at www.irishtv.ie
With two hours of live television broadcast on St Patrick’s Day this is a fantastic opportunity for people at home and abroad to join in the celebrations and for our diaspora to capture the flavour of Northern Ireland’s largest parade for the very first time. The programme will also include some highlights from other parades across the UK and Ireland.
Speaking at today’s announcement Lord Mayor of Armagh Cathy Rafferty commented: “As Lord Mayor of Armagh I am delighted that Irish TV will be putting Armagh on the map on St Patrick’s Day with a live broadcast spanning over two hours. This allows not only people across Ireland to join in Armagh’s celebrations but all those who have left our shores to travel or work abroad. ”
Irish TV presenter and Ulster director Malachi Cush said: “It has been a very exciting year for Irish TV as we have watched our programming and viewership grow since our launch in May 2014. We continue to be committed to bringing a local flavour to television screens across the country and I am particularly proud that Irish TV will broadcast Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations live for the first time in its long and very successful history. This is a great opportunity to let people both at home and abroad enjoy what is one of the most anticipated and celebrated parades at the Ecclesiastical capital Armagh.”
