Hat trick of contract wins for Henderson Foodservice

Henderson Foodservice has signed three new contracts to supply key Northern Ireland businesses with a combined value of almost £2m.

The contracts, which are predominately for the supply of fresh food, are with major local players in the pub, restaurant, healthcare and support service sectors.

As a result of the deals Henderson Foodservice will provide a comprehensive range of products to the Downey Group, which owns the Apartment, McHugh’s and Kitchen Bar, and to the Care Circle, which operates 12 nursing homes in Northern Ireland.

A third contract will see Henderson Foodservice supply meat to the Mount Charles Group, which provides catering services across the business and industry, healthcare, education and retail sectors.

The foodservice company, a division of the Mallusk-based Henderson Group, supplies and delivers a wide range of products to customers across Ireland including hotels, schools, restaurants, fast food outlets, hospitals, nursing homes, cafes, sandwich bars and retail convenience stores.

Managing director of Henderson Foodservice, Damien Barrett said signing the contracts was “great news” for the company.

“It demonstrates the variety of companies with which we are working across a wide range of sectors. It’s also great news for the producers and suppliers we work with as it means we can potentially provide them with new routes to market.

“Fresh is a fast-growing area for our business and one we expect to continue to expand in 2015,” he added.

Cathal Geoghegan, managing director of the Mount Charles Group, one of Ireland’s largest indigenous support service organisations, said supplying seasonal food and working with fresh produce was important to his business.

He said: “We believe in supporting local farmers and producers and are pleased that Henderson Foodservice is able to provide us with a range of wholesome local meat and produce.  Sourcing locally is extremely important for us and we see this partnership as a key component of that.”

Sean Owens, Head of Food Operations for the Downey Group Belfast, said: “This contract is a great opportunity for us to enjoy the benefits of a one stop shop when ordering a diverse range of fresh, frozen and ambient foods.

“Through our relationship with Henderson Foodservice we can source products of genuine local provenance and the after sales support we’ve experienced has been extremely valuable to our business.”
