Rita’s in £1M Linen Quarter development to open
On site of the new rooftop garden bar in Belfast’s Linen Quarter is Zoe Watson and Paul Langsford, Abacus Inns, along with Graham Devenney from design company O'Donnell O'Neill Design. The development will also see the third bar in the development, Rita’s, opening in December.
An exciting new phase of a £1m entertainment development in Belfast’s Linen Quarter is due to be completed early December 2014 with the opening of Rita’s, a new beer & cocktail club which will create an additional 20 new jobs.
Rita’s is based at 44 Franklin Street and follows the recent openings within the same historic building as the asian influenced venue Shiro and the renowned night club brand Chinawhite. Planning has also recently been granted for the final phase of the overall project which will start in early 2015, a £350K investment in a fifth floor rooftop garden which can accommodate 250 customers. The complete development within the Linen Quarter will create a total of 180 jobs .
According to Paul Langsford, Director of Abacus Inns, Belfast has not seen a targeted regeneration of the night time economy to this level, for many years, he commented, “The opening of the third bar Rita’s following the successful launch of Shiro and Chinawhite and planning permission granted for a roof garden bar, makes this development one of the most significant investments in the night time entertainment business in Belfast for many years.”
“Belfast’s Linen Quarter based on the south side of the City Centre has always had enormous potential and we believe that our development delivers a new hub for the night life economy within Belfast City Centre with two bespoke bars and an internationally renowned night club.
“We have had a hugely positive response from people across Northern Ireland and beyond to the openings of Shiro and Chinawhite and we believe that Rita’s will add another new and exciting dimension to the vibrant dynamic that the other two new venues have created.”
