Belfast’s first outdoor ‘Bubble Ball’ tournament announced

On Sunday, July 6th 2014, Belfast’s Writers Square will be transformed into a fully grassed five aside football pitch to hold the first, ‘Bubble Ball’ Outdoor Tournament to take place in Belfast City Centre. The Tournament is the brain child of local Bar and Restaurant, Aether & Echo and is designed to raise funds for local charity, Children’s Heartbeat Trust. The charity is one very close to the owners, Brian McGeown and Anthony Farrell and is to raise vital funds to provide life saving operations for babies, children and young people with heart disease in Northern Ireland . The tournament will be made up of 32 teams from across the Belfast Bar community, however, there will also be several slots available for others to enter.

Bubble Ball is the new craze sweeping the UK at the moment. Imagine playing football, but with your upper body incased within a giant air filled bubble, fighting for possession and bouncing into your opponent. Spills are a plenty which makes this one of the most fun and entertaining sports around.

Sarah Quinlan from Children’s Heartbeat Trust said; “Children’s Heartbeat Trust are delighted that Aether & Echo have organised this fantastic fundraiser in aid of babies, children and young people with heart disease in Northern Ireland.  This support will help us continue to provide emotional and practical support to families affected by congenital heart disease.  Bumper Ball looks to be tremendous fun and we would encourage everyone to come down on the day to support the charity and join in the excitement!’

Brian McGeown (Co-Owner, Aether & Echo) said; “hopefully we can raise awareness for a very serious issue and an amazing charity, by using the Belfast bar community and having some crazy fun”

Bubble Ball will cost £50 per team (Five players) and the just giving link can be found here;
