McCoy’s launches Brazil-liant campaign to relocate a pub and customers to Rio

THERE’s only one place better than your local pub to watch a feast of football this summer and that’s to watch it in your local pub… in RIO!

That’s exactly what is on offer for Northern Ireland publicans and consumers as part of McCoy’s Crisps’ biggest ever promotional campaign which will see one lucky pub recreated in the Brazilian capital.

Consumers across Northern Ireland and Great Britain are being asked to vote for their ‘local’ in the hope that they might put their favourite pub on a plane to Rio win and experience a once-in-a-lifetime trip to a spectacular summer of sport in Brazil.

From now until March 21, 2014, publicans and consumers can nominate their local pub to be recreated in Rio via the McCoy’s website (www.mccoys.co.uk/riolocal) and the winning pub will effectively be put on a plane to Brazil – along with the landlord, nominator, a voter for the winning pub plus seven friends.

In addition, the McCoy’s ‘Rio Local’ campaign will be supported by an on-pack promotion which offers consumers throughout the UK the chance to win one of 15 pairs of tickets to Brazil so they too can ‘bag a seat’ at the McCoy’s Local in Rio.

Ricky Watts, Business Development Manager (NI) for McCoy’s manufacturer KP Snacks said:

Northern Ireland has always been a key market for McCoy’s so we’re encouraging publicans across Northern Ireland to get registered and get campaigning for the votes that might see their pub and customers on the plane to Rio.

“The McCoy’s brand has a history of delivering successful consumer promotions and this one is no different, as it captures the imagination of our key male target audience and taps into the excitement of a hotly anticipated summer of sport,” he added.

To build excitement and help pubs campaign for votes, KP Snacks has produced McCoy’s ‘Rio Local’ promotional kits which include a counter-top unit, tent cards, t-shirts, posters, pint glasses, beer mats and drip mats, all designed to ensure that landlords and local customers can increase their chances to win.

Consumers taking part in the on-pack promotion, which runs until June, will also have a chance to win one of 10,000 exclusive McCoy’s trophy glasses available to be won instantly.
