Henderson Foodservice announced as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies.

Henderson Foodservice has been named as one of Ireland’s most successful companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, which recognises excellence in business management and performance.

The company, a division of the Mallusk-based Henderson Group, supplies and delivers to customers across Ireland including hotels, schools, restaurants, fast food outlets, hospitals, nursing homes, cafes, sandwich bars and retail convenience stores.

The Best Managed Companies Awards Programme was created to recognise the overall success of a company, including management strength, ability to innovate, strategic initiatives and financial performance.

This year’s winning companies were congratulated by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, TD at an awards gala dinner in Dublin on Friday 7 March.

Damien Barrett, managing director of Henderson Foodservice, said: “Our company took part in a long and extremely rigorous process to prove it met the standards of excellence required to be awarded with this prestigious title.

“To win is a symbol of organisational success and achievement and we are delighted that this process has recognised Henderson Foodservice as one of Ireland’s most dynamic and innovative companies.”

Henderson Foodservice has seen sales growth of 33% in the last two years and staff numbers have increased by 20% to over 250.

The company has recently added 15 new vehicles to its fleet, meaning that 50 lorries now transport deliveries across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland six days a week. Investment has also been made in a new warehouse management system to ensure customer service is even more efficient.

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, TD, said: “It is great to see so many indigenous Irish companies achieving this best in class standard and a good sign we can achieve the aim of becoming the best small country in the world for business. Companies like the award winners are the job creators who are crucial to our economic recovery. The Government wants to build on the 61,000 new jobs created last year and, through the Action Plan for Jobs, will continue a relentless focus on creating jobs in the domestic economy.”

Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner, Deloitte and judging panel member, said: “As the Irish economy continues to strengthen the outlook for the winning companies is extremely positive. They have all demonstrated an exceptional ability to innovate and grow and are now excellently positioned to benefit as the outlook for Ireland Inc continues to improve.”
